Northgate Apartments is six studios on Starle Close, a cul-de-sac off Sturry Road on the Northgate side of Canterbury. There is no reception, no corridor of doors, no queue at breakfast. You get a key, a front door of your own, and a parking space outside it. Each studio is genuinely self-contained. A double bed, a shower room of your own, and a proper little kitchen along one wall — hob, extractor, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and sink, with a breakfast bar and two stools under the window. Location & surroundings
Starle Close is a quiet residential cul-de-sac off Sturry Road, inside the Northgate ward and just outside the old city walls. It is lawn, hedges and low brick terraces rather than a main road, and the parking is on your doorstep. Walk out of the close and you are on Northgate in under ten minutes, at Sainsbury's on Kingsmead Road in about ten, and in the middle of the city in around twenty — the Marlowe Theatre at nineteen minutes, Canterbury Cathedral at twenty, the Westgate Towers at twenty. St Martin's Church and St Augustine's Abbey, the two other halves of Canterbury's World Heritage Site, are closer still at sixteen and seventeen minutes. Canterbury West station is a twenty-two-minute walk; Canterbury East is twenty-seven. By car you are out of the city quickly: Whitstable and Herne Bay are both about seventeen minutes, Howletts Wild Animal Park eight, Reculver Towers sixteen, Chilham fourteen, Faversham nineteen, and Dover or the Eurotunnel terminal at Folkestone under half an hour.

Is parking available, and does it cost anything?
Yes — free parking on site, right outside the studios, and you do not need to book it. Starle Close is a quiet residential cul-de-sac, so you are parking on your own doorstep rather than hunting for a city-centre space.
Is the studio self-contained?
Completely. Every studio has its own front door, its own shower room and its own kitchen — two-ring hob with extractor, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and sink, plus a breakfast bar with two stools. Nothing is shared with another guest.
How far is Canterbury Cathedral?
About a twenty-minute walk — roughly a mile, flat the whole way. St Martin's Church is sixteen minutes and St Augustine's Abbey seventeen, so all three parts of Canterbury's World Heritage Site are within half an hour on foot.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check in from 15:00 and check out by 11:00. There is no reception desk here — let us know roughly what time you expect to arrive and we will make sure you can get in without waiting around.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes — free of charge up to 7 days before your arrival date. Inside 7 days the full stay is charged. We do not take a deposit at the time of booking.
Can I cook properly in the studio?
Yes. The kitchen has a hob with an extractor over it, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle and a fridge, plus pans, crockery and cutlery. Sainsbury's on Kingsmead Road is a ten-minute walk, which is what most guests use.
Is it cheaper to book directly with you?
Yes. Booking on this site is our best available rate, because nothing is paid out in commission to a booking website. There are no booking fees added on top and confirmation is immediate.
Is Wi-Fi included?
Yes — Wi-Fi is included in every studio at no extra charge, and there is a flat-screen TV in each one.
How many people can stay in one studio?
Each studio is set up for two adults, with one double bed. We do not have extra beds, sofa beds or cots, and cannot accommodate more than two people in a studio.
What is a garden studio?
Two of the six studios open onto a private garden of their own. Inside they are the same as the others — double bed, en-suite shower room, full kitchenette — but you get somewhere of your own to sit outside. Ask us when you book if you would like one.
